Things to Avoid in a Videoconference
Facial expressions, clothing, and posture are all things you should consider about yourself while in a video conference. Below are some tips to ensure that you look your best while in a video conference.
|
Bad Body Language.
Because the remote participants can see you as well as hear you, it is important to think about your body language and facial expressions. The following are some examples of poor body language that we have seen in our experiences.
If you are making a comment to another person that is at your local site, try to remember to keep the remote sites included.
 |
Don't turn towards each other and talk face-to-face. Instead, stay facing the camera and the remote site display while turning your head from time-to-time to the local person and then back to the remote site. |
|
| Other Considerations. |
| If at all possible, minimize your body movement in front of the camera (i.e. hand gestures, frequent pacing etc). Constant movement typically results in poor video results (digital artifacts). |
| When speaking to the remote site(s) remember to make eye contact with the camera and not the television. Deliver your videoconference presentation with the same standards that you normally would follow for a regular presentation. |
